High-Voltage Relay in Power Supplies & Testing Systems
For ensuring personal safety, high-voltage electronic devices must feature high isolation barriers to separate voltage from all exposed metal surfaces. Additionally, in case of a malfunction, high voltage must be immediately cut off. This standard applies equally to distribution equipment, test fixtures, and testing probes, where high-voltage power must be immediately disconnected in case of a fault, meaning circuits must be disconnected and grounded. Under these conditions, one set of contacts opens the high-voltage circuit, another set closes it, and the system is grounded.
High-voltage reed relays with hermetically sealed tungsten contacts offer an optimal solution for such applications. Typically, the switching time of reed switches is below 6 milliseconds, with breakdown voltages up to 15kVDC (depending on the switch type). The contact switching current is 3A, with a maximum carrying current of 5A, available in various contact forms, and can be mounted via PCB through-holes or high-voltage leads, making them ideal for high-voltage environments. They operate with an action time of 3ms and release time of 1.5ms, ensuring fast response to control signals. This series of reed relays is encapsulated in epoxy resin, with insulation resistance of 10^12 ohms, leakage distance exceeding 32mm, ensuring excellent reliability.
